Yes, it is chrome plated. Stainless steel was comparatively very expensive in 70s, and only expensive watches use it. This piece was a normal range watch, uses common swiss movement, and cheaper material. Only they enhanced the body design to have a better resistance of water. In the 70s, many advancement were made to diver watches. Rolex, Omega & Seiko produced some iconic diver watches in those era
the casing looks like chrome plated to me...btw, it;s a nice looking vintage watch. look abit like doxa.
